CUSD offers many specialized programs to meet varying educational and developmental needs.

Advanced Learner Education: A differentiated curriculum model is provided for all students at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels. The program for Advanced Learners focuses on deeper engagement in the general education curriculum and is delivered during the regular school day by the classroom teacher.

Career Pathways: Carlsbad Unified Career Pathways provide students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in college and future careers. CUSD's 9 Career Pathways consist of high quality curriculum and instruction, career exploration and guidance, industry partnerships and work based learning opportunities, and student leadership development.

English Language Development: The English Language Learner Program provides services for students who have a language other than English in their home and are not yet fully proficient in English.

Supplemental Ed Services: Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which reauthorized and updated the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), provides states more authority on standards, assessments, accountability, supports, and interventions while preserving the general structure of the ESEA funding formulas.

Visual & Performing Arts: The Carlsbad Unified School District recognizes the importance of a comprehensive arts education program as an integral part of every student’s education. Long-range goals have been developed for all of the arts. The District uses a variety of resources to provide a wide range of educational experiences in the arts including academically integrated curriculum and teacher training.
