When the map was approved in February 2022, a goal of the Board was to ensure that each elementary school attendance area was represented by at least two Trustees; accordingly, each elementary school attendance area was divided among at least two Trustees Areas. The table below describes the Trustee Areas representing portions of each elementary school attendance area:
Here are the Trustee Areas representing each school attendance area:
(Updated 2/26/2022) In 2017, the Carlsbad Unified Board of Trustees converted from an at-large election system (where board members are selected by voters from across CUSD) to a by-district system (where board members are selected by voters only in the area they represent). Each of the five elected members of the Carlsbad Unified Board of Trustees represents a specific geographic area. Every ten years, local governments use new census data to redraw their district lines to rebalance each area and reflect how local populations have changed. In February 2022, the Carlsbad Unified Board of Trustees adopted a new Trustee Area map, in alignment with the California Voting Rights Act and Education Code Section 5019.5. The approved Trustee Areas are reflected in this map. To find your voting district, you can also search your home address in this interactive map. (In the upper right corner of the map, under the "Select Boundaries" dropdown, please select "Trustee Areas.")
