Posted Date: 5/15/24 (8:03 PM)

Valley Middle School families,

We are pleased to announce that the Board took action this evening to appoint Lindsey Gordon to the position of Assistant Principal of Valley Middle School, effective July 1, 2024.

Ms. Gordon has fifteen years of experience in education, with the last eleven years spent as an educator at Hope Elementary School in Carlsbad Unified School District. As a Carlsbad native, Ms. Gordon attended Magnolia Elementary School, Valley Middle School, and graduated from Carlsbad High School. Her deep understanding of the community’s history and culture, combined with her commitment to CUSD, makes her an ideal candidate for this position.

Ms. Gordon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from California State University San Marcos.

Throughout her tenure at CUSD, Ms. Gordon has demonstrated strong leadership capabilities. She served as administrative designee, a mentor to new teachers in the Teacher Induction Program, and held roles such as CUTA President and Elementary Representative at Large. Her contributions extend to various school and district committees, including the site leadership team, school safety committee, CIM for CCEIS Team, Universal Screener Committee, School Site Council, and Grade Level Lead. Ms. Gordon was also recognized as the Hope Teacher of the Year in 2023.

Superintendent Ben Churchill said, “I’ve been consistently impressed with Ms. Gordon’s leadership in a variety of roles across our district, and I’m thrilled that she will return to the school site where she was once a student. She is a relationship-first leader who prioritizes belonging for all students, and is deeply committed to the work of our district. Her strengths include instructional coaching and mentorship to new teachers, and she’ll be a strong advocate for students. We're proud to promote her to the AP position at Valley Middle School, where she’ll join a phenomenal team of educators and families."
